Robert “Bob” Fernandez has been hired as managing director, global head of debt capital markets by BancTrust & Co. Investment Bank (BancTrust), an investment bank specialising in emerging markets with headquarters in London.
With a keen eye on primary bond markets, Fernandez will be located in London and collaborate directly with the company’s Debt Capital Markets teams, lending his leadership and expertise to support BancTrust’s ongoing expansion strategy in CEEMEA and LATAM.

He has worked in emerging markets for more than 30 years, having held positions in Puerto Rico, New York, Caracas, Hong Kong, London, Moscow, and Johannesburg.
Fernandez has managed strong DCM teams at JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, BNP Paribas, Standard Bank, and other companies in LatAm, APAC, and EMEA. He has assisted financial institutions, governments, and corporations with a wide range of credit ratings with advice on raising money on global capital markets during the course of his career.
Moreover, he graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSFS in International Economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and additionally is a trustee of The Hunger Project (UK), a group dedicated to ending world hunger in a sustainable manner.
