UK law firm Speechly Bircham has opened a new office in Geneva as part of a drive to increase its international presence for private client business.

The office is the third new office on the continent for Speechly Bircham after the opening of offices in Zurich and Luxembourg in 2011 and is part of the current international expansion plans.

The office will be headed by Michael Wells-Greco and Francis Rojas who join the firm from Maitland.

The two international private client specialists will oversee the Geneva office working alongside Mark Summer who heads the firm’s Swiss presence in Zurich.

The firm aims to build on the increasing demand in Switzerland for multi jurisdictional tax planning and wealth structuring, both areas in which it specialises.

In a statement Michael Lingens, senior partner at Speechly Bircham said: "Zurich and Geneva are both important centres for the private banking sector and having an on the ground presence in both cities demonstrates our commitment to the Swiss market."
