UK-based investment group RWC has teamed up with Tokyo-based Nissay Asset Management (NAM) to launch a new UCITS fund, known as RWC Nissay Japan Focus Fund.
The new fund, which is a sub-fund to its UCITS compliant Luxembourg-domiciled Sicav, will build upon the existing partnership with NAM using a constructive engagement-based approach.
The fund will replicate the Japanese Stewardship Fund alternative investment fund (JSF AIF) strategy of RWC and will be managed by Yasuaki Kinoshita.
JSF AIF, which was launched in 2005 as a joint venture between RWC and the Japanese asset management firm, has increased 79% since inception against the Topix benchmark’s rise of 41%.
Dan Mannix, CEO of RWC, said: "RWC’s team have had a nine-year joint venture with NAM, one that allows us to bring a UCITS version of the strategy to investors who have not previously been able to access the strategy.
