Nomura Asset Management Malaysia has launched Nomura Global High Conviction Fund, a new wholesale fund for Malaysian HNW clients who meet minimum net worth or income thresholds.

The locally domiciled wholesale fund, which feeds into Nomura Funds Ireland – Global High Conviction Fund, is available to clients whose total net personal assets exceed MYR3m or gross annual income exceeded MYR300,000 in the previous year.

Nomura Asset Management Malaysia head of investment Leslie Yap will serve as the fund manager of the local feeder fund, while the target fund will be co-managed by Ilan Chaitowitz.

Nomura Asset Management Malaysia managing director and country head Nor Rejina Abdul Rahim said: “We celebrate 10 years in Malaysia today and this offering to individuals marks an important step in the growth of our business here. It signifies our commitment to serving Malaysian high net worth individuals who are increasingly looking beyond our shores to build a global investment portfolio for potentially better risk – adjusted returns.”

Nomura Asset Management U.K. head of equity investment and manager of the target fund Tom Wildgoose said: “We see the benefits of diversification as relatively small beyond about 20 – 30 stocks, so with this strategy we look to concentrate our investments for potentially higher returns.”
