Japanese investment bank Nomura has named Jonathan Lewis as its new CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), subject to regulatory approval.

Lewis, who will succeed Jeremy Bennett, will be based in London.

Lewis served in various senior roles at Nomura since joining the firm in 2008, and for the last three years was based in Tokyo working as the co-deputy chief financial officer of Nomura Holdings.

In April 2011, Lewis was named the senior managing director of Nomura, with his earlier roles at the firm including CFO for the wholesale division and CFO, EMEA.

He served as a senior managing director in finance at Bear Stearns International from 1996 to 2008.

Prior to that, he served at PwC in New York and London having qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte.
