Nomura Asset Management has bolstered its emerging markets equity team in UK by appointing Nick Payne as a new portfolio manager for Latin America.

Payne’s appointment is part of the firm’s strategy to expand its presence across the region.

Payne has joined Nomura from Rexiter Capital Management, where he served as head of Latin American equities as well as managing emerging markets equity portfolios.

Previously, he also managed the firm’s global emerging markets Shariah strategy for Islamic investors and a sustainability-based emerging markets product.

Jonathan Bell, head of emerging market equities at NAM UK, said: "Nick joins our established London-based team, which complements our wider Emerging Markets focus comprising over twenty investment professionals based on the ground across Emerging Asia."

Mark Roxburgh, head of marketing and client relations at NAM UK said: "We see continued demand for Emerging Markets equities across our institutional and retail operations. Nick’s appointment is an important step towards enhancing our product range in this space."
