Investment management firm Neuberger Bremen has launched a new short duration emerging market debt fund of its Irish-domiciled Ucits funds umbrella.

Launched with assets of US$21 million, the new Neuberger Berman Short Duration Emerging Market Debt Fund seeks to invest in both sovereign and corporate debt.

The new fund will be co-managed by portfolio managers Nish Popat, Jennifer Gorgoll and Bart Van de Made, who are part of Neuberger Berman’s global emerging market debt team.

Commenting on the launch, Popat said: "Investors continue to seek returns in a rising rate environment and we believe the NB Short Duration Emerging Market Debt Fund offers access to an attractive part of the capital structure, whilst limiting the potential portfolio impacts of rising interest rates."

The launch of the fund follows three emerging market debt Ucits funds launched by the firm in June of this year and the Neuberger Berman Short Duration High Yield fund in January 2012.
