Most recently, Wilmont served as head of European high yield investments at Alcentra. Before this, he served as high yield portfolio manager at Pareto Partners, and a high yield credit analyst at New Flag Asset Management.

Additionally, Neuberger Berman plans to introduce a European High Yield strategy as part of its growing non-investment grade platform, which includes the Neuberger Berman Full Market High Yield, Short Duration High Yield, Bank Loans and Distressed Debt strategies.

The company said that the strategy will expand its capabilities in global credit and allow managers to add the asset class opportunistically to other credit mandates.

Dik van Lomwel, head of EMEA and Latin America for Neuberger Berman, said: "Wilmont’s appointment reflects our commitment to building a complete suite of global non-investment grade solutions for investors.

"We are thrilled that he has chosen to join Neuberger Berman as his skills will form a strong complement to our existing high yield offering."
