Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) has named John Chong as CEO of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (Maybank IB) and Maybank Kim Eng Group with immediate effect.

Most recently, Chong served as deputy CEO of Maybank IB, and since 24 September 2013, had also assumed the role as interim officer-in-charge of the investment bank as well as acting head of Maybank Kim Eng Group.

Chong has over 20 years of experience in investment banking with the Maybank Group, having joined Maybank IB in March 1993 as an officer in the corporate banking department.

Prior to this, Chong served as managing director and head of client coverage under global wholesale banking.

Datuk Abdul Farid Alias, president and CEO of Maybank Group, said: "Chong has been closely involved in a wide spectrum of investment and corporate banking exercises, including numerous award-winning landmark transactions encompassing bond and sukuk issuances, syndicated loans and project financing.
