Investment firm Matthews Asia has named Neil Steedman as new head of business development in the UK.

In his new role, Steedman will be in charge for directing Matthews Asia’s business development and client service activities in the UK and selected European markets.

Steedman will report to Jonathan Schuman, head of global business development at Matthews.

Steedman joined Matthews from Aberdeen, where he worked as discretionary sales head. He had worked at Aberdeen for more than 10 years following its acquisition of Scottish Widows Investment Management.

Schuman said: "Neil’s appointment reflects Matthews Asia’s strategic commitment to provide distinctive Asian investment strategies and high?quality service to our partners and investors across the UK and Europe.

"The expansion of our local presence in Europe reflects the long-term importance that we place on providing quality products and service to our clients," he added.
