Manulife Asset Management (Manulife AM) is set to hire Kathryn Langridge and Philip Ehrmann for its global emerging markets equity portfolio management team.

Langridge will join the organization in this December 31 as senior managing director, senior portfolio manager, and head of global emerging markets equity.

Ehrmann will join on January 8 as senior managing director and senior portfolio manager, and will support Langridge.

Both Langridge and Ehrmann most recently served at Jupiter Asset Management in London.

Langridge joined Jupiter in 2010, and is presently designated as the firm’s fund management director responsible for global emerging market equity funds.

Before this, she served as head of the global emerging markets equities team at Lloyd George Management, as well as also worked at INVESCO Perpetual for 17 years, where she hleld the post of head of Asian investments and head of international equity products.

Langridge started her career at the Jardine Group with Jardine Fleming, where she served in multiple roles in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and London.

Ehrmann, who joined Jupiter in 2006, is designated as the fund director and the firm’s joint head of Asian equities.

He earlier served in Gartmore Investment Management, where he was the head of the Pacific and emerging markets, and started his investment management career at INVESCO, where he rose to assume the role of emerging market equities head.

In their new role subject to FCA regulatory approval, the duo will be based in London, where they will be responsible for managing a global emerging markets equity strategy for institutional clients and certain wealth management businesses of Manulife and John Hancock.

At the same time, the team will support other global equity strategies investing in emerging market equity.
