Rabattu will combine top-down analysis with bottom-up stock selection in portfolio construction, while also using a strict risk management policy and prioritize low volatility.

Available through wealth managers, the new fund is a Luxembourg Sicav that will invest in Asian domestic equities solely drawn from the consumer and retail sectors while avoiding financials, consumer finance, telecoms and autos stocks.

Commenting on the launch, Rabattu said: "Asia has 60% of the world’s population with a middle class getting richer and where the economic growth driver is switching from exports to domestic consumption.

"Added to that emerging market equity valuations have retreated sharply and consumer retail sectors have underperformed over the last nine months."
