Lombard International Assurance, a provider of wealth structuring solutions, has appointed Ranald Munro as general counsel for its European business.

Munro will spearhead a team including legal, regulatory affairs, risk and compliance functions that is tasked with ensuring the provision of commercial and corporate services, and advice to the firm’s European operations.

He will also join the senior management team of the firm and report to the firm’s European CEO Axel Horger.

Munro most recently served as chief legal officer at reinsurer SCOR Global P&C. His other previous roles included crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK, senior legal adviser at International Computers, group legal adviser and company secretary at L'Oréal (UK), as well as European general counsel, company secretary and head of external affairs at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE.  

He also serves as the major-general and the assistant chief of defence staff (reserve and cadets) in the UK Reserves.
