Fortune Venture Investment Group (FVIG), a Taiwan-based global private equity firm, has appointed Lee Yuen Wai as new managing director for its investments in Asia.

Based in Singapore, Yuen Wai will be responsible for leading the firm’s fund raising, deal origination and investments in Asia with particular focus in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, according to Asia Asset Management.

Yuen Wai is expected to lead the launch of two new funds with a combined close of approximately US$500 million.

Prior to joining FVIG, Yuen Wai served as director of UBS in Singapore with responsibility of overseeing investments of high-net-worth individuals in the bank’s private wealth management business.

He also served as an advisor to FVIG between 2005 and 2008 for its Asian Technology Fund.
