Fieldpoint Private, a Connecticut-based wealth advisory and private banking firm, has appointed Marc Halsema as its new managing director and senior advisor.
Halsema’s practice is based in Fieldpoint Private's offices in New York City.
He has worked with family-led businesses and family offices worldwide to offer intergenerational wealth transfer and business planning advice on a range of issues such as succession, estate planning, risk management and asset protection, family office structure and governance, philanthropy and wealth education.
Fieldpoint Private president and CEO Robert Matthews said: "Marc is exceptionally well traveled in the ultra-high-net-worth and family office space. For the family offices and businesses he works with, it is not only the technical sophistication behind his advice that matters, it's the objectivity.
“His clients are delighted that he can now execute on that advice, and do it at a firm that has no axe to grind."
Halsema most recently served as an executive director of the global family office services practice at Ernst & Young, where he had tenure of about two decades.
He also headed Ernst & Young's family office practice in Moscow, Russia, and worked for many years with a boutique merchant bank in the Middle East.
"I have been honored to serve so many families in the U.S. and around the world, on such a broad spectrum of their wealth management and business issues. What changes with Fieldpoint is that I am not simply giving advice — I can execute on that advice. That ability to help my clients more directly, whether it be their investment portfolios, cash management or credit, profoundly changes the value I can deliver," Halsema said.
