White & Case and CMS have emerged as the leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers based on deal value and volume, respectively, in Europe for the first three quarters of 2024, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData.
According to GlobalData’s Deals Database analysis, White & Case advised on deals worth $40.3bn, securing the top spot by value. CMS, on the other hand, led by volume with involvement in 164 deals.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer followed closely in second place by value, advising on deals amounting to $38bn.
Latham & Watkins followed, with $36.4bn in advised deals, while Kirkland & Ellis and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom advised on $32.4bn and $31.5bn worth of deals, respectively.
In terms of deal volume, White & Case secured the second place with 95 deals. Allen & Overy came in third with 91 deals, followed by Addleshaw Goddard with 73 deals, and Baker McKenzie with 69 deals.
GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “CMS outpaced its peers by a big margin in terms of deal volume. Although there was a decline in the number of deals advised by CMS, it was the only adviser to hit the triple-digit deal volume during Q1-Q3 2024.
