Swedish asset manager East Capital has named Karine Hirn as its chief sustainability officer.

Hirn is a founding partner of East Capital. At present, she is the CEO of East Capital Asia and chairperson to East Capital entities in Luxembourg.

In the new role, she will be tasked with integrating ESG analysis into East Capital’s investment process.

She will also manage the firm’s new ESG initiatives, as well as support the firm’s commitment to the Principles for Responsible Investment.

East Capital partner, chairman and CIO Peter Elam Hakansson said: “ESG has been a core feature of East Capital’s investment approach since the inception of the business in 1997.

“Twenty-two years on, we have a well-established ESG framework covering engagement with companies, stock exchanges and authorities, as well as peers and associations within the industry.
