deVere Spain, a unit of British financial advisory firm deVere, has reopened offices in Madrid following their closure three years ago.

The firm also has offices in Marbella and Barcelona, which until now have been serving the clients of the shuttered office.

The Madrid office will be headed by David Owen, who formerly served as a senior wealth consultant at deVere Acuma in Abu Dhabi.

Owen will report deVere Spain senior area manager Andrew Oliver and deVere head of Western Europe James Green.

Owen said that the new office will have seven full-time consultants and their respective support staff by the end of 2017, with plans on to hire more employees in 2018.

According to Owen, one of the key factors in the office reopening was a rise in some financial products by expatriates following Brexit.

“The decision to open offices again in Madrid has been taken due to increasing demand for our specialist financial advice, products and services from individuals in and around the Spanish capital. With a growing amount of enquiries from this area over the last year, we decided to relaunch a physical presence in the city. The move is consistent with deVere’s long-standing approach of being located in those destinations wherever there is a significant and growing demand from expatriates and international investors who seek our cross-border financial expertise,” he said.
