Kuhnke has also been appointed as a senior group director and will report to the bank’s CEO Christian Sewing.

Kuhnke has been working at Deutsche Bank since 1986 and has held various roles at the bank including divisional control officer, chief administrative officer and head of operations of the private & commercial bank.

“In his tenure at Deutsche Bank of more than three decades Frank Kuhnke has proven that he is strong at taking decisions and executing them. He is able to systematically make complex processes and structures more efficient. Together with his team he will continue simplifying our bank’s technology and operations, cut costs and strengthen our innovation potential,” Sewing noted.

Hammonds’ departure comes amid an overhaul of Deutsche Bank’s senior management team. Earlier this month, the bank named Christian Sewing as its new CEO, replacing John Cryan.

Along with Cryan, the bank’s co-head of the investment banking unit Marcus Schenck is also set to leave the bank.
