Coutts has named three senior hires in the Middle East as it builds out its regional presence to include 20 new recruits in Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai in 2012.

Currently, Coutts generates about 60% of its business in the UK, and 40% internationally.

The new hires are in line with Coutts’ growth plans of reversing that ratio and expanding internationally at a faster pace.

The three senior appointments are:

  • Arjun Mittal as regional head of Coutts’ Non-Resident Indian (NRI) business. Mittal will be based in Dubai and will have the responsibility for the Middle East and European markets. He was previously a managing director at Bank Sarasin Alpen in Dubai.
  • Akram Khattab joins as an executive director, relationship management. based in geneva, the role focuses on expanding Coutt’s presence in the Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Prior to his latest position, Khattab was the managing director and head of private banking at Mashreq Bank.
  • Ali-Reza Vahabzadeh joins as a vice president, relationship management.  Vahabzadeh will also be based in Geneva where he will focus on expanding Coutts’ business in Abu Dhabi and Qatar. Vahabzadeh was part of Citi Private Bank’s Abu Dhabi operation before joining Coutts.
