Boston Private, a US-based wealth management firm, has appointed David Murphy as its new head of wealth advisory for Boston.

In his new role, Murphy will oversee Boston Private’s Wealth Advisory team and also implement strategic initiatives to support asset growth.

Murphy will be based in Boston and report to Boston Private Wealth COO Scott Dell’Orfano.

He most recently served as New England and Metro New York Regional Investment Director at TD Bank, where he supervised staff in eight states.

Prior to that, he was worked as a portfolio manager in Chase Manhattan Bank’s Trust and Investment division managing assets of affluent clients.

Commenting on the appointment, Dell’Orfano said: “David brings decades of outstanding leadership in wealth management to our clients, and we are excited to have him in this role as we continue to grow our wealth management business in the region.”
