Butterfield Bank UK has named Matthew Parden as new managing director replacing Raymond Sykes, who has stepped down after spending more than four years at the firm.

At the same time, Butterfield has also hired former HSBC chief risk officer Trevor Gander and former PwC partner Douglas Paterson as non-executive directors to its board, replacing John Wright and Nigel Buchanan respectively.

Additionally, Gander has also been named as new chair.

Parden joined Butterfield from private bank Duncan Lawrie, where he most recently served as chief executive since 2010. He worked at Duncan Lawrie for 17 years working as group financial controller and group financial director.

Prior to this, Parden worked at Commercial Union Assurance and began his career at BDO Stoy Hayward.
