British wealth manager Brooks Macdonald has struck its first international partnership with Dubai-based advisory firm Abacus Financial Consultants.

The collaboration will allow Abacus’ local clients to access the UK-based firm’s international investment management services such as discretionary multi-asset as well as direct equity and bond strategies.

The move will also allow Abacus clients gain access to the British firm’s 90-member workforce in the UK and Channel Islands.

At the same time, Brooks Macdonald will offer enhanced reporting, training and marketing support services to Abacus as part of the deal.

Brooks Macdonald international CEO Darren Zaman said: “Dubai is an exciting market with a growing expatriate community, which we believe offers good opportunities for growth.

"The quality, experience and fee-based model at Abacus made them a natural fit for our first international alliance and we are confident that our investment solutions will help to meet the needs of their clients.”

Abacus co-founder and director Con Lillis terms the partnership as a “landmark moment for Abacus”.

“Providing high quality discretionary investment management services is part of Brooks Macdonald’s 25-year-old heritage, and aligns with our service-led, holistic financial planning proposition,” Lillis stated.
