BNP Paribas has named Peter Kwok as new chief executive officer of BNP Paribas (China), replacing Clarence T’ao.
Based in Shanghai, Kwok will report to Paul Yang, the Group’s regional head for Greater China and chairman of BNP Paribas (China) and the board of directors.
In his new role, Kwok will be responsible for leading and managing the various business lines, client facing units and functions of BNP Paribas (China) in close coordination with BNP Paribas Group’s regional teams.
Kwok, who joined BNP Paribas (China) as managing director in 2007, most recently served as deputy CEO and head of corporate banking.
Additionally, Clarence T’ao has been named as head of emerging Asian markets at BNP Paribas Wealth Management Asia Pacific. In his new role, T’ao will be responsible for focusing on capturing opportunities and developing business in the new Asian markets.
Paul Yang said: "The demand from clients in China for sophisticated financial services continues to rise. Peter has an in-depth understanding of China and excellent knowledge of the Group’s corporate client franchise. He will bring a wealth of insights to lead our further growth in China."
