Berenberg has established a new team in London to focus on a selected number of UHNW clients with international and complex requirements. William Wesnofske reports.

The new International Key Clients team is another step in the continued development of Berenberg’s international private banking business. Vanessa Skoura has been appointed as the head of the team. She is a senior banker with over 20 years of experience in the private banking field. She said: "I am looking forward to giving fresh impetus to growth in the international private banking team in London. By providing excellent service, we intend to offer the best that demanding clients are entitled to expect from a private bank."

Dr. Peter Raskin, head of Berenberg International Private Banking, said: "As our International Private Banking business continues to grow, the time is right for us to add further resource and dedicated expertise in response to the opportunities we are seeing amongst international clients. The establishment of the new team not only demonstrates that we recognise that different types of clients have different requirements, but also enables us to continue to focus attention on delivering a world class service in line with our clients’ expectations."

The move comes after the German bank lost its UK co-head last October, Ross Elder, exclusively reported by PBI.

Berenberg is one of the leading privately owned banks in Europe today, which focuses its operations on private banking, investment banking, asset management, and corporate banking. Berenberg opened its London office in 2003, along with its London based private banking and asset management operations in 2011.
