French asset manager Amundi has appointed Dominique Carrel-Billiard as its new deputy director to coordinate its merger with Pioneer Investments.

Amundi agreed to acquire Pioneer from Italian banking group UniCredit earlier this month in a deal valued at €3.5bn.

Carrel-Billiard, who will join as a member of the executive committee at Amundi, was most recently the CEO of French boutique Financiere de l’Echiquier.

Prior to that, he served for seven years as the CEO at Axa Investment Managers, with particular responsibility for consolidating group acquisitions and operational units. He began his tenure at the AXA Group as head of support and development functions.

He previously also worked as associate director at McKinsey, and at the mergers and acquisitions unit at CCF.
