Credit Suisse has named its investment banking executive Eric Varvel as global head of asset management, effective 1 June 2016.
Varvel, who will replace Bob Jain, will report to the groups’ International Wealth Management (IWM) division CEO Iqbal Khan. He will also join IWM’s Management Committee.

He will be based in New York and will be responsible to drive forward the further development of the group’s global asset management franchise.
Varvel has over two decades of experience at Credit Suisse. He served the firm as a member of the executive board from February 2008 to October 2014 during which he held senior roles including CEO of the Investment Bank, and CEO of the Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Commenting on the appointment, Khan said: "We are confident that his global experience, track record and expertise will significantly contribute to the further development of our Asset Management franchise and to the achievement of our ambitious goals.
"Eric’s strong relationships with many strategic clients will be a great benefit not only to the Asset Management business, but also to the IWM division overall."
