iShares, the ETF platform of BlackRock, has appointed Brett Olson, a former Nomura managing director, as head of fixed income for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In his new role, Olson will be responsible for product development, sales and capital markets teams. He will also be responsible for responding to the significant long-term demand for fixed income ETFs in the region.

Olson will report to Tom Fekete, head of product development for EMEA, and David Heike, head of fixed income at iShares.
At Nomura, Olson served as managing director and head of the EMEA teams, responsible for the sales of asset backed securities and the distribution of illiquid debt instruments.
Olson has 15 years of experience in structuring and marketing fixed income securities. Previously, he also worked for Standard Chartered Bank and Lehman Brothers.
