Bowers will report to HSBC GAM fixed income global chief investment officer Xavier Baraton, and will manage the HSBC GIF Global High Yield Bond Fund and HSBC GIF Global Short Duration High Yield Bond Fund, which have assets worth US$1.1 billion and $20 million, respectively.
The Luxembourg-based HSBC GIF Global High Yield Bond Fund was previously run by Guy Dunham since its launch in 2012.
Baraton said Mary’s hire reflects a strengthening of HSBC GAM’s US and global high yield resources based in New York, and very much complements their existing high yield capabilities in the US, Paris and Hong Kong.
