Federal Way Asset Management has appointed Michael Phillips as its new chairman and CEO.

Before accepting the current role, Phillips worked more than 25 years with Russell Investments, serving as chairman from 2002 to 2008 and CEO from 1993 to 2003.

After joining Russell’s London office in 1981, he was promoted as managing director in 1982. He moved to Russell’s corporate headquarters in the US in 1986to to become as director of international consulting. In 1990, he was appointed as the president of Russell.

In 2006, Phillips was selected by the White House to be a US representative on the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and worked as chairman of the ABAC Finance and Economics Working group in 2007 and 2008.

He is also immediate past chairman of the non-profit 20-20 Investment Association.

Prior to joining Russell, Phillips worked as an investment analyst and portfolio manager at Barclays Investment Management in London from 1971 to 1981, where he was accountable for managing internationally diversified pension fund assets.
