Adrian Watson, 37, from the Vale of Glamorgan, will head up the financial planning division of the Cardiff office, joining from Coutts & Co.

Since starting his career in 1994 as a Financial Planner for Axa Equity & Law, Adrian has built up a wealth of experience in pensions, inheritance tax and trust planning working for two of the country’s leading banks. A member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, Adrian holds the Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management and the Diploma in Financial Planning.

On his appointment, Adrian said: "Brewin Dolphin has a great heritage and reputation and I have watched with interest the growth of the Cardiff office in recent years. I’m delighted to be joining the team and look forward to growing the financial planning operation and working with the firm’s clients on their financial planning affairs. In an increasingly complex marketplace, careful planning is essential to provide a strong financial platform to protect and grow your wealth. We are extremely well placed to provide well researched investment management solutions alongside in-depth financial planning advice to meet our clients’ objectives and needs."

Adrian joins the 28-strong team at the Cardiff office’s headquarters at 5 Callaghan Square. David Myrddin-Evans, head of the Cardiff office, said: "Over the past seven years, we have worked really hard to establish and grow our investment management team in Cardiff. Our efforts have paid off as we have successfully grown the funds we manage. As we help more and more clients with their investment management needs, we are increasingly of the view that financial planning advice must be available to all our clients as we structure their investments."

"Adrian has a great deal of experience in complex wealth planning matters which will be crucial as we look to provide a more well-rounded view of our clients’ financial affairs. I find it encouraging that so many people are now looking very carefully at their entire financial situation and are seeking long term guidance to ensure that they have planned for important matters that affect their families and I’m confident that Adrian is well-placed to advise our clients on these matters."

Established in 1762, Brewin Dolphin is one of the UK’s largest independently-owned private client wealth managers.
