Wunderlich Securities, a Memphis-based brokerage firm, is reportedly planning to expand its presence in Nashville to take advantage of growing wealth in the area.

Wunderlich, which commenced operation in Nashville office in 2009, last month raised US$40 million to expand services, according to tennessean.com.

According to the website, the firm poached Irene Griffis from UBS to head its Franklin-based branch.

The firm has also added two equity analysts to its Nashville presence in the past year.

"There is just so much happening here that we’ve got to be a part of. It’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the South," the website Jim Parrish, president of the firm’s private client group, as saying.

In September, JP Morgan also announced its decision to open a new private banking office in Nashville.
