US-based financial investment advisory firm Wood Investment Counsel has merged with Obermeyer Asset Management Company to form a new firm.

Dubbed as Obermeyer Wood Investment Counsel, the merged firm will manage about $1.7bn in assets and will operate out of offices in Denver and Aspen.

As part of the merger, Wally Obermeyer, founder of Obermeyer Asset Management, will become co-chairman and president for the combined firm with George Wood, founder of Wood Investment Counsel, serving as co-chairman.

Additionally, the merged entity will comprise 17 staff with 11 investment professionals.

Obermeyer Wood Investment Counsel delivers a range of investment advisory services focused on investment portfolio management, asset allocation and risk assessment. It also assists clients with financial changes, retirement planning, and philanthropic advisory and implementation.
