Winton Capital, a UK-based fund manager, has appointed Andrew Grimes to lead the firm’s newly opened office in Sydney, according to Finacial Standard.
Grimes has joined Winton Capital from Platinum Asset, a $23 billion global equities manager, where he worked for more than 5 years. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant at Watson Wyatt.

Meantime, Winton Capital had an extensive expansion in 2014, including the opening of a Sydney office and also moving to new premises in London.
Additionally, the fund manager is planning to open offices in New York and Tokyo.
Winton will follow highly scientific quantitative investment strategy based on the principle that markets are inefficient and price movements do not follow unpredictable random walks.
