Swiss private bank Vontobel plans to set up a new business unit – Financial Products Multi Issuer Platform, which will be led by Gerhard Meier, who was formerly responsible for UBS’ equity investor platform.

Vontobel’s multi-issuer platform deritrade (deritrade MIP) for structured products has been rapidly becoming recognized in the market.

The firm said that its deritrade platform has more than 4000 professional investors in Europe and Asia currently and has assets under management totalling more than CHF1 trillion.

The firm added that Morgan Stanley has recently joined deritrade, following on from Société Génerale.

Gerhard Meier will be joining his new role in Vontobel’s platform management business, with effect from 1 November 2013.

Most recently, Meier served as head equity structured products at UBS Wealth Management. He was also responsible for the development of UBS KeyInvest, and its evolution into UBS Equity Investor since 2000.
