Swiss asset and wealth manager Vontobel has named Markus Voegelin as new head of the risk control business unit and as a member of the finance & risk management team, effective from 1 March 2016.
Voegelin will be replacing Susanne Brandenberger and will be responsible for the Group-wide functions for market risk/product control, credit risk, operational risk and investment control.

He will report to Martin Sieg Castagnola, chief financial officer of Vontobel.
Brandenberger has become a member of the board of directors of the private bank EFG International and head of the board of directors’ risk committee in October 2015.
Voegelin joined Vontobel from Coutts & Co Zurich, where he worked as chief operating officer and deputy CEO. He also served on the General Management Committee of Coutts & Co and also held roles such as CFO and finance director of the bank.
Prior to this, he worked with Julius Baer in roles including head of private banking finance, head of staff private banking and head of controlling. He also worked for the Swiss consulting firm Mutaris Consulting and also at UBS.
