To drive its latest initiative forward, the Swiss firm created a new team of private banking advisers in Zurich dedicated to serving this growth region.

The new team is led by Bernhard Breiter, who joined Vontobel Private Banking in Zurich on 1 June 2016. He will report to Vontobel Wealth Management Asia Pacific head Alex Fung, who is based in Hong Kong.

Previously he spent nearly 15 years at UBS serving the Australian market, including two years in its representative office in Sydney.

Fung said: "Especially in the current global low interest rate environment, Vontobel’s active asset management approach creates attractive opportunities for wealthy private investors who are seeking to diversify their assets globally.
