Value Partners Investments, the manager of VPI Canadian Income Pool (the Pool), has announced that effective December 1, 2013, Patient Capital Management will become the principal portfolio manager of the Pool, with the responsibility of managing the asset allocation and equity securities portion of the Pool, and Canso Investment Counsel will also become a portfolio manager of the Pool, with responsibility for managing a designated fixed income portion of the Pool.

Vito Maida, a founder of Patient Capital Management Inc., will be principally responsible for managing the asset allocation and equity securities portion of the Pool. Vito has been in the investment industry since 1987 and has developed a reputation in the industry as a leading proponent of value investing.
Canso Investment Counsel Ltd. (Canso) was founded in 1997 by John Carswell, a Canadian portfolio manager with 28 years of investment experience. Canso currently has over US$10 billion in assets under management.
The mandates of Canso include investment grade corporate bonds, high yield corporate bonds, bank loans, equities, private placement securities, convertible bonds, distressed debt and options. John Carswell will manage the fixed income portion of the Pool along with Canso’s senior team of investment research and portfolio management professionals consisting of Gail Mudie, Heather Mason-Wood, Vivek Verma and Joe Morin.
