Independent financial risk management and advisory firm Validus Risk Management has acquired investment firm La Financière Constance (LFC) for an unknown sum.
LFC is a Canada-based investment company with a special focus on quantitative and derivatives-based strategies.

It also offers risk-management, hedging and overlay advisory services to family offices, institutional investor, and businesses.
The acquisition forms the basis for Validus’ new business, Global Macro Strategies (GMS).
With GMS, Validus is looking expand its product and service offerings for its institutional client base including pension funds and family offices.
LFC Partner Kambiz Kazemi, who has been appointed as Validus chief investment officer, will oversee the new business.

By GlobalDataValidus CEO Kevin Lester said that LFC’s expertise in overlay and derivatives strategies is an excellent complement to the company’s core business.
Lester added: “Validus has always distinguished itself from other risk advisors and overlay managers through its ability to customise hedging strategies based on unique client objectives.

The GMS business, which leverages LFC’s expertise in developing systemic and rules-based investment strategies, is expected to boost Validus’ core risk and hedging offering.
