Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation is expanding its private bank division into the San Francisco region. The company has hired Shane Hiller, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of wealth management experience, as senior vice president and market leader.

In his new role, Hiller will be responsible for building Umpqua Private Bank’s team in the region and for delivering its high-touch, personally customized offerings to clients in the Bay Area and beyond.

Umpqua Private Bank builds customized investment solutions for clients with more than US$3 million in net worth and US$1 million in investable.

The Private Bank’s expansion into the Bay Area will reflect increasing demand for an integrated approach to wealth management in the region, and follows successful forays into the Portland and Seattle markets.

Hiller’s appointment in San Francisco is part of a series of strategic moves made by the company to solidify its presence in the Bay Area, including the opening of a flagship store in San Jose, and its 2012 acquisition of Circle Bank. These moves have enabled Umpqua to offer a comprehensive suite of community banking, commercial lending, home lending and business banking services to local consumers and businesses.

Before joining Umpqua, Hiller was director at Citi Private Bank. He has also held seferal senior wealth management positions at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Wells Fargo Private Bank, and Bank of America.
