UBS has appointed Gregor Hirt as new chief investment officer (CIO) of its global investment solutions for Europe and Switzerland.

In his new role, Hirt will be responsible for managing global balanced strategies and contributing to asset allocation strategy for the GIS group.

Hirt will report to Andreas Koester, head of asset allocation and currency at UBS.

Previously, Hirt served as head of multi asset for continental Europe for Schroders. Before that, he also spent time at Credit Suisse in portfolio management and research roles.

Commenting on the appointment, Koester said: "Hirt brings significant experience in multi-asset investing which will be a great benefit to our clients.

"He will join our Asset Allocation Committee as a voting member and his expertise will contribute to setting strategy across our global investment solutions area. We are delighted to welcome him to the firm."
