UBS Global Asset Management has appointed Keiichi Miki as new CEO for Japan, effective February 3.

Miki will report to Kai Sotorp, Asia-Pacific head of UBS Global Asset Management, according to Asian Investor.

Most recently, Miki served as head of Lazard Asset Management’s Japanese business. Previously, he served as Japan head of JP Morgan Asset Management for eight years.

Commenting on the appointment, Sotorp said: "Miki is an investor by training and is also experienced on the distribution side."

According to Asian Investor, UBS is also planning to expand is property investment capabilities in Japan, as well as in Asia-Pacific mainly in Australia and China.

UBS Global AM received a renminbi qualified foreign institutional investor (RQFII) license in December, allowing it to invest into Chinese assets using offshore RMB.
