According to the company, the Hyderabad office is intended to enhance collaboration and further work in areas such as AI.

UBS Country Head India Service Company and Group technology officer Matthias Schacke said “Hyderabad continues to be an important growth location for UBS, thanks to its strong talent pool, supportive policies and excellent infrastructure. We look forward to further expanding our tech capabilities, including AI, while enhancing our operations footprint in the location.”

The expansion comes after UBS drew attention in December last year for reported plans to reduce its workforce by 10,000 by 2027, according to Swiss newspaper SonntagsBlick.

While declining to confirm figures, UBS stated it would seek to keep job losses to a minimum both in Switzerland and globally.

For the fourth quarter of 2025, UBS posted a net profit attributable to shareholders of $1.2bn, up 56% from a year earlier.

Invested assets across the group exceeded $7tn for the first time, a 15% rise year-on-year, supported by market activity, currency shifts, and asset inflows.
