Tor Investment Management, an alternative asset management firm focused on Asian markets, has entered into a strategic partnership with Grosvenor Capital Management, a US-based alternative investment managers with over US$23 billion in assets under management to expand its range of offerings.

Tor said that the deal will strengthen its ability to capitalize on the broad opportunity set in Asian credit and special situations resulting from the region’s favorable capital supply and demand dynamics.

The new Asian regulatory requirements are causing tighter capital conditions among traditional funding sources in addition to creating attractive investment opportunities for institutions and business building expertise such as Tor.

The new partnership platform will be headed by Patrik Edsparr and Chris Mikosh, founders of Tor, alongside a team of 12 professionals with significant investment and operational experience including COO Jim Sweeney, former CEO of Boyer Allan Investment Management.

Edsparr most recently served as global head of principal investments and proprietary positioning at JP Morgan. Prior to this he served at Citadel as head of global fixed income and CEO of Citadel Europe.

Prior to joining Tor, Mikosh served as managing director and head of trading in Goldman Sachs Asian Special Situations Group in Hong Kong.
