Elsmark, who joins from Copthall Partners, and Karim Elfar, who was most recently at Davis Advisors, will spearhead the UK push, and take overall responsibility for developing the firm’s franchise outside of the US.

Prior to joining the firm, Elsmark was the founder and director of Copthall Partners and Elfar was the managing director and head of international for Davis Advisors.

Thornburg’s head of global distribution, Peter Trevisani, said: "Establishing an office in London, a global financial centre, will enhance the awareness of Thornburg’s investment capabilities internationally and enable us to better serve our clients."

"We believe that the structure of our investment strategies built on our core investment principles of focusing on the fundamentals, investing for the long term, and going wherever we see value gives us a durable framework for value-added investing," Elsmark added.
