SYZ Asset Management, a subsidiary of Swiss-banking group SYZ, has hired Cedric Vuignier as head of manager research & alternative investments, and Bertrand Dord as senior analyst.
Vuignier, who will take up his new position on 1 June 2016, will succeed Michael Malquarti.

Vuignier in his new role will be lead portfolio manager of the funds of funds managed to date by Malquarti, supported by a team of seven specialists at SYZ Asset Management.
Vuignier has more than 14 years of experience in alternative investments research and selection, of which 12 years were with HSBC (2000-2012) in New York and Geneva.
At HSBC, Cedric led an alternative portfolio management team for eight years (2004-2012), where he was responsible for 400 mandates. Prior to SYZ, Cedric acted as head of alternative investments at AppleTree Asset Management.
Dord, who is joining SYZ from Lyxor Asset Management, served as senior hedge fund analyst in the firm for the past seven years (2009-2016), focusing on event driven strategies, hedge fund analysis and selection and the launch of new funds.

By GlobalDataHe also held several positions at Societe Generale in London and Paris including interest and foreign exchange hedging and collateralized loan obligations (CLO) (2006-2009).
SYZ Asset Management CEO Katia Coudray said: "Cedric Vuignier has developed a deep knowledge of the hedge fund industry and will be able to draw on his broad network to enable SYZ Asset Management to select the best alternative investment fund managers."
Commenting on his appointment, Vuignier said: "SYZ Asset Management has a very long track record in using alternative investments within a range of alpha generating, multi-asset portfolios."
