Switch Datacenters has acquired the former ABN Amro data centre for EUR11 million in Woerden, a city in the Netherlands.
The facility, which was originally built for Fortis who merged with ABN Amro in 2008, consists of two buildings with a total area of 12,500 sqm, in which the datacentre building has 5,500sqm.

The facility is in need of modernisation and Switch is set to upgrade the datacentre in terms of cooling, power capacity and efficiency, so that a power usage efficiency factor of less than 1.1 is achieved, datacentres.com reported.
The new site will be linked with Switch’s existing data centre in Amsterdam.
