US-based asset manager State Street has named Jörg Ambrosius as the new head of its UK and EMEA operations, replacing Liz Nolan.

The appointment is pending regulatory nod.

Ambrosius, who joined State Street 18 years ago, will also sit on the firm’s management committee.

He will be tasked with managing the firm’s growth opportunities, risk management and client engagement.

Moreover, he will be responsible for developing talent and managing relationships with stakeholders.

Most recently, he co-headed the firm’s global services business in EMEA and led its global sovereign wealth servicing business.

His overall financial career spans over 25 years.

In the new role, he will report to State Street head of international business Francisco Aristeguieta who joins this month.

Aristeguieta noted: “The EMEA region is very important to us and we are proud to have had a presence there for almost 50 years with more than 13,000 employees.

“Throughout his career Jörg has demonstrated successful leadership of key businesses and teams and will now drive our EMEA strategy forward.

“Our clients and the industry are at a moment of profound change and Jörg’s track-record as a strategic partner to institutional clients, his knowledge of complex and diverse regional regulations as well as his experience working across broad stakeholder groups position him perfectly for this role.”

Nolan currently serves as the head of the global delivery team at State Street.
