State Street Global Advisors, the asset management unit of State Street, has rolled out an infrastructure exchange-traded fund (ETF).

The fund, dubbed the SPDR Morningstar Multi Asset Global Infrastructure Ucits ETF, is touted to be a world first by the company. The ETF will provide investors combined exposure to infrastructure equities as well as bonds.

The fund, listed on the Deutsche Börse Xetra, will track the Morningstar Global Multi-Asset Infrastructure Index. This will offer investors access to the publicly available infrastructure universe in one trade.

SPDR ETFs head for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Alexis Marinof said, "Infrastructure investment has a number of key benefits: it has low correlation with traditional assets, provides access to long-duration and inflation linked assets and is less sensitive to business cycles."

As of 31 December 2014, SPDR ETFs manages over $466bn in over 225 ETFs across the globe.
