Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Ratings Services has appointment Paul Gruenwald as chief economist for the Asia-Pacific region.
Based in Singapore, Gruenwald will report to Paul Sheard, chief global economist and head of global economics and research, and to Yu-Tsung Chang, executive managing director and head of Asia-Pacific

"Paul’s strong academic, policy, and markets background, combined with his extensive experience in the Asia-Pacific region, make him an ideal addition to our global economics and research team," Sheard said.
Chang added: "Paul will lead our economic research agenda in Asia-Pacific and serve as Standard & Poor’s primary spokesperson on the region’s macro-economic matters. His appointment underlines Standard & Poor’s ongoing efforts to expand our analytical coverage and thought-leadership initiatives in this fast-growing region."
Prior to joining S&P, Gruenwald spent almost five years at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) as chief economist, Asia-Pacific. He was responsible for helping set and direct ANZ’s Asian and global economic research agenda, as well as building the bank’s economic research efforts and profile in Asia. Paul has also worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and taught at Spain’s Universidad Carlos III in Madrid.
